SEASONS GREETINGS!

New Year New Skills... ‘I’m Online’ Campaign

One of SARH aims for 2014 is to help more customers get ‘online’ and using the internet. There are lots of benefits that getting online can have for people including searching and applying for jobs, finding the cheapest deals for gas and electricity and keeping in touch with friends and family across the globe.

Recently, SARH held an ‘I’m Online’ event at two different Independent Living Schemes, Jubilee Court and Marston Court, to show residents that getting online can be fun and social as well as have many other benefits for them. The two schemes played a live online game of scrabble against each other, Skyped Karen Armitage (SARH Chief Executive) in her office, had a go on an iPad and got tips on where to search for the best money saving deals through websites such as Money Saving Expert.
We are committed to supporting customers to get online in a number of ways through the SARH ‘I’m Online’ campaign. Things to keep an eye out for in 2014 include:
  • Introducing a brand new category in the Community Learning Programme for ‘I’m Online’ courses.
  • Offering a range of e-learning opportunities (courses that can be done from a computer).
  • Dedicating a Monday afternoon at the Community Resource Centre to e-learning.
  • Inviting bids that will help customers to get online in SARHs Customer Initiative Scheme.
  • Recruiting volunteer ‘I’m Online Champions’ who can support other people in their communities.
  • Delivering ‘I’m Online’ Mobile Road Shows.
  • Other fun days and events to help people get online.

Attendees at SARH's first 'I'm Online' event
If you would like any more information about the above projects or have an event or activity SARH could get involved with getting people 'onnline' see www.sarh.co.uk or contact the Community Involvement Team on 0800 111 4554 or email cp@sarh.co.uk.

So What?
The ‘I’m Online’ event was the first of its kind run by SARH and its success demonstrated that there is a need for more to be done to support customers to get online so they can benefit from all the opportunities that has. It enabled us to consult with customers and will help us to plan future events as part of the ‘I’m Online’ campaign.

Urban Gallery

An empty retail unit at Greyfriars, Stafford is the home of Stafford and Rural Homes Urban Gallery.  To brighten up the empty shop we put themed displays in the windows that would catch the eye of passers by.  The window displays kicked off  again with Halloween Pumpkins and a ghostly grave yard in the Community Resource Centre window!   Keep an eye out for our special Christmas display coming soon!!

So What?
Making an empty shop look more appealing can help a community feel that there is interest for the area where they live and provide a great promotion tool that helps brighten up the neighbourhood.

New Homes, New Customers

The Community Involvement and Neighbourhood Services Teams have been making contact with customers who moved in to all of SARH’s New Build properties such as those in Monks Walk at Gnosall and The Spinney in Burton Manor.  They have been finding out how they have settled in and whether there is anything missing in the neighbourhood.

So far we have been receiving excellent feedback from people very happy and settled in their communities and praising the new properties.
“I love my new home!”
“We feel like we have never lived anywhere else!”

So What?
It is important for SARH to know how our customers are settling into new communities and see if there is anything that we can do to improve community spirit.

COMING SOON...

Here are the first couple of months courses in our 2014 Community Learning Programme
